Mommy Moment...
My sister made this cute stocking for my brother, who was overseas during the Vietnam War. Mom stuffed it full of Christmas goodies, and mailed it off to him. And although he appreciated the sentiment, he gave them back to Mom (and my sister didn't want them either).
As I grew up Mom used them to hold the Christmas cards from friends and family. We didn't always get too much for Christmas, but this stocking was always out. I inherited it years ago. We turned it into an advent stocking. Curt and I put a little candy, juice or toy in them each day in December, one for each kids at home that day. Sounds sweet doesn't it?
Well...you know how kids sometimes blurt out things? Sometimes the things they think get confused and come out in totally embarrassing ways:
Danielle's kids love this stocking. It's so fun to watch their eyes light up when they get to go to the stocking for a surprise. Someone asked them what their favorite Christmas activity was and one of them joyously proclaimed, "We get candy out of Granny's underwear!!!"
Find joy in the little things.
